AN INSURANCE firm will be the latest company to move into Leicester’s Colton Square. Berkeley Insurance Group is to relocate its 54 staff to the prestigious office complex from Regent Street in the city next month.

The company has taken a tenyear lease for 5,600 sq ft on the first floor of Two Colton Square, at site of the former Charles Street police station.

Chairman Andrew Bedford said the new premises gave the firm the space to create another 10 to 12 jobs. “It gives us more space and is a better and much nicer location,” he said.

“It reflects how we feel about the company going forward.”

James Raven, development director at the site’s developer Goodman, said: “We are delighted to welcome Berkeley Insurance Group to Colton Square, which is rapidly emerging as a vibrant new business location in Leicester’s regeneration masterplan.

“The company enjoy an impressive reputation in the region and are an excellent addition to the portfolio of companies based at the development.” Berkeley will join accountants Cooper Parry, law firm Freeth Cartwright, stockbrokers Brewin Dolphin and economic development agency Prospect Leicestershire at Colton Square.

The announcement comes a week after the online training agency, Learndirect, said it was to create 250 jobs on twoand-a-half floors at the neighbouring One Colton Square. Goodman was represented by Innes England and Lambert Smith Hampton and Berkeley by Clive Garner and Partners.
